Ingredients:

  • 5 oz (140g) Albacore Tuna in Water, drained well
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Mayonnaise (Hellmann's/Best Foods preferred for classic flavour)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Celery, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Red Onion, finely diced
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper, freshly ground
  • Pinch of Sea Salt (or to taste)
  • 4 slices Sourdough Bread (or your favourite sandwich bread)
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Unsalted Butter, softened

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, flake the drained tuna with a fork.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, celery, red onion, lemon juice, parsley, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper to the tuna.
  3. Gently mix all ingredients until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed (more lemon juice for tang, more salt for depth).
  4. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Toast the bread in a toaster or frying pan until golden brown and crispy on the buttered side.
  5. Spread the tuna salad evenly over two slices of toasted bread.
  6. Top with the remaining slices of bread and cut in half (corner to corner for extra poshness). Serve immediately.
