Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise (whole egg)
  • 1/4 cup Thai Sweet Chili Sauce
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp Sriracha or Chili Garlic Sauce
  • 1 tsp Honey or Agave
  • 1/2 tsp Rice Vinegar (or Lime Juice)

Instructions:

  1. Measure the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha (or chili garlic sauce), and honey into the small mixing bowl.
  2. Add the half-teaspoon of rice vinegar or lime juice. This step is critical for brightening the flavor of your homemade bang bang sauce.
  3. Using a small whisk or spatula, vigorously stir all ingredients together until the mixture is completely homogeneous. There should be no streaks of plain mayonnaise or chili sauce visible. The final consistency should be smooth and thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  4. Taste the finished bang bang sauce. If you desire more heat, add Sriracha 1/2 teaspoon at a time. If the sauce is too thick, whisk in 1 teaspoon of water or milk until the desired pouring consistency is reached.
  5. While the sauce can be used immediately, cover the bowl and chill the sauce in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to fully meld, resulting in the best flavor profile for your copycat bang bang sauce.
