Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices American cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
- 4 hoagie rolls or hero bread
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 medium tomato, sliced
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)
- Pickles (for topping, optional)
Instructions:
- Chop the onion and mince the garlic. Prepare the hoagie rolls by slicing them open.
- Heat skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, onion, and garlic; season with paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until beef is browned and onion is translucent (about 8-10 minutes).
- Once beef is cooked, reduce heat to low. Layer slices of cheese over the beef mixture and cover the skillet. Cook until cheese is melted (about 2-3 minutes).
- Spread mayo on the inside of each hoagie roll. Spoon the cheesy beef mixture generously into each roll. Top with shredded lettuce, tomato slices, and optional ingredients like pickles or sauces.
- Enjoy your chop cheese sandwiches hot, perhaps with a side of fries or chips.
