Ingredients:
- 4 cups (950ml) cubed fresh watermelon, seeds removed
- 1/4 cup (60ml) fresh lime juice
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) agave nectar or simple syrup
- 1/4 cup (60ml) water (if needed)
- 6 ounces (180ml) silver (blanco) tequila
- 3 ounces (90ml) Cointreau or other orange liqueur
- Lime wedges, for garnish
- Coarse salt or sugar, for rimming glasses (optional)
Instructions:
- Combine watermelon, lime juice, and agave nectar in a blender.
- Blend until completely smooth. Add water if needed to achieve desired consistency.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve for an even smoother texture (optional).
- Refrigerate the agua fresca for at least 30 minutes for optimal chill (optional).
- If desired, rim margarita glasses with salt or sugar.
- In a cocktail shaker (or directly in glasses), combine tequila, Cointreau, and chilled watermelon agua fresca.
- If using a cocktail shaker, add ice and shake vigorously until well-chilled. Otherwise, stir well in your glass.
- Strain (if shaken) or pour directly into prepared glasses filled with ice.
- Garnish with lime wedges. Serve immediately.
