Ingredients:
- 12 ounces (340g) fresh cranberries, rinsed and picked over
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (240ml) water
- Zest of 1 medium orange
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- Orange slices or fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the water and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has dissolved.
- Stir in the fresh cranberries and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the cranberries simmer for about 10 minutes, or until they start to burst.
- Remove from heat and stir in the orange zest and ground cinnamon (if using).
- Allow the sauce to cool. As it cools, it will thicken.
- You can serve it warm, or transfer to a bowl and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.
