Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 3/4 cup (150g) packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated white sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8-inch or 10-inch cast iron skillet with butter or non-stick oil.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until the mixture resembles wet sand and no large lumps remain.
- Stir in the egg and vanilla extract until the batter becomes glossy and smooth.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Use a spatula to fold the dry ingredients into the wet batter, stopping as soon as no white streaks of flour are visible.
- Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared cast iron skillet using a spatula.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until the edges are deep mahogany-brown and pulling away from the sides, while the center still has a slight jiggle.
