Ingredients:
- 6 slices white bread, crusts removed, cubed (approx. 6 cups/140g)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted (15ml)
- 1 pound (450g) breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 cup (50g) cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup (50g) mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 6 large eggs (approx. 300g without shell)
- 1 1/2 cups (360ml) whole milk
- 1 teaspoon dried mustard powder (5ml)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (2.5ml)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (1.25ml)
Instructions:
- Toss cubed bread with melted butter. Spread evenly in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle cooked sausage and bacon evenly over the bread. Top with cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, mustard powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, meat, and cheese.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 35-40 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown and the egg mixture is set. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
