Ingredients:

  • 14 oz extra-firm tofu
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Remove tofu from the package and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Slice the block into 1-inch cubes. Wrap the cubes in a clean kitchen towel and apply light pressure for 5 minutes to extract moisture.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, maple syrup, olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
  5. Gently fold the tofu cubes into the marinade until every side is evenly coated.
  6. Sprinkle the cornstarch over the marinated tofu and toss gently until the liquid is absorbed and the tofu looks dusted.
  7. Spread the cubes on the baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping the cubes halfway through for even browning.
