Ingredients:

  • 1 pound fresh figs, halved
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Rinse figs under cold water and gently pat dry. Remove the stems and cut figs in half.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add the unsalted butter and allow it to melt, swirling the pan to coat.
  3. Sprinkle brown sugar into the melted butter. Stir continuously until the sugar is dissolved and begins to bubble.
  4. Add the halved figs to the skillet, cut side down. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the figs are caramelized and tender.
  5. Drizzle balsamic vinegar and vanilla extract over the figs. Season with a pinch of salt, stirring gently to combine.
  6. Continue to sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
  7. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl. Serve warm as desired.
